Heisting Hyjinks — ‘Jacques And The Great Art Of Theft’ Now Live On Kickstarter

by Brendan M. Allen

Jacques And The Great Art Of Theft, a slice-of-life adventure, written and illustrated by Chris Baldie, with colors by Adrian Bloch is now live on Kickstarter. This standalone comic leans exclusively on its bright and colorful artwork, perfect for Teen+ readers.

Jacques undertakes his greatest job yet: to break into the city’s gallery and liberate its finest work. The nocturnal thief as he makes his way across rooftops, traverses great heights, and sneaks his way past guards to get at the treasures within. We need no words, just action!

Jacques And The Great Art Of Theft began as a four-page short story in my collection ‘We Said Goodbye to Gravity’,” said Baldie. “The story allowed me to experiment with a wordless comic and helped me hone physical comedy and facial expressions on the page. Soon after the book was released, it became obvious that not only did I love Jacques, but so did fans! This had me wondering if I could pull off creating a whole book, and even try and hit with a more emotionally charged storyline. This book reminded me of my love for the colorful and cartoonish comics of Asterix, TinTin, and other newspaper strips—I hope that same nostalgic feeling comes through for those that pick up a copy!”

Backer rewards kick in at the £6 (about $8) for a digital copy of the book. Physical copies come in at the £10 (about $13) tier. Hardcovers and various bundles are also available. Check out the campaign and backer reward tiers at this link
