‘ComicScene’ Magazine Returns With An All-New Issue This November

After a while away, November sees the return of ComcScene Magazine with a 100-page 2024 Yearbook…
I’ve talked about ComicScene before (indeed, I’ve written for ComicScene before) but whether I’m writing for it or not, I’ll always champion new magazines about comics, as it’s part of comics that we really need and just don’t have enough of anymore.
So, after the publishing nightmare of Covid that killed the first iteration of ComicScene stone dead, it’s a pleasure to have the magazine back.
It’s back in a new compact A5 squarebound format with a zero launch issue can be ordered right now in digital and in print in November.
Put together by publisher/editor Tony Foster, the contents of this debut zero issue includes The History of Wonder Woman 1941/42 by Joan Ormrod, interviews with Aly Fell and Anna Morozova, John Mcshane on Bogie Man, Dean Simons on Belgian publisher Jean Dupuis and the story of Spirou, the newly-announced UK Comics Laureate Bobby Joseph, a column from Pat Mills, a Kevin O’Neill retrospective by Luke Williams. There’s coverage of younger readers’ graphic novels, features on crowdfunding, and there’s Myf Tristram on the new Comics Cultural Impact Collective. It’s also good to see that the late Colin Noble, a wonderful man, has his final features in here – something on Bunty and the newspaper strips Axa and Beau Peep. And as part of this being the 2024 Yearbook, Tom Fraser gives you a month by month review of 2023. Finally, there’s the debut of Steve White’s ligne claire styled cover comic, Tara Toggs.
