Solemuppet Brings More Space Cowboy Style To Kickstarter With ‘Afterburn’

Welcome to the table,

Solemuppet Publishing is one of those fun indie publishers that travels around the fringes of the TTRPG space providing some really cool offerings that catch my attention and get me excited to talk about new things that are off the beaten path for most.

First, a brief understanding of Orbital Blues, the property Afterburn expands on. Orbital Blues is this TTRPG of melancholy moon men and sad space cowboys, your basic crew of desperate and downtrodden outlaws do what they can to make ends meet. They travel across a music-infused space-western universe filled with retro-future technology, plagued by heartbreak and the haunting shadow of the blues.

This whole thing vibes of Cowboy Bebop and aspects of Silver Hawks with undertones of Outlaw Star and Firefly all mashed together in this rules-light love-letter to off-beat sci-fi, vintage music, and cooperative old-school styled roleplay.

Afterburn is a new book about love, excitement, and adrenaline. It centers around spaceships and what they mean to our Interstellar Outlaws.

This new project from Solemuppets Publishing is an expansion on the original Orbital Blues TTRPG with new adventures, rules, and advice, that makes it a more complete and robust experience to play and run games in.

The Afterburn book is the core product at the heart of this Kickstarter campaign and it contains:

• The Red-Shift Riders, a sandbox adventure setting in the Tennessee Five, a richly storied system made up of the planets of Anchorage IV, Ediston, Gallatin, Ohrid and Rothcoe
• The Spaceship Handbook, a fully-illustrated in-world spaceship brochure featuring a dozen classes of characterful spaceships, complete with adverts and flavor text
• The Storyteller’s Guide, with tons of helpful tips, tricks, and advice on running games of Orbital Blues from the creators themselves, and a ton more!

Also, I would be totally remiss if I did not mention the phenomenal add-on soundtrack option that comes in the form of a stylized cassette tape.
