UVS Games Previews Upcoming Alternate Art Cards From ‘Cowboy Bebop’ And ‘Trigun’
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
Spaceships, jazz music, and hair as big as mine was back in the day… Cowboy Bebop was one of the reasons I finally got into anime. There was a time when I actively avoided anime. Strange to think I go to sleep almost every night listening to One Piece (I’m on my 9th watch through) and I have more All Might stuff in my kitchen than I ever expected to own, but there was a time when I just could not get into it. The opening bars of “Tank!” though, that bass guitar and the smooth deep voice saying…
“I think it’s time we blow this scene. Get everyone and the stuff together. 3, 2, 1, let’s jam” and then that horn drops in and it’s all over. I was done… sold.
I didn’t know what I was going to be getting into, but I knew whatever followed that opening was going to be something truly special… and I was not wrong. After Cowboy Bebop, Trigun was quickly consumed, then Full Metal, then Bebop again, then Trigun again, then Heat Guy J, and so it went.
The fact I have a deep love of arguably two of the most iconic Anime that have ever graced the screen makes this announcement from UVS Games even more exciting for me!

Check out this sneak peek of the alternate art cards from Vash and Spike, two iconic anime characters featured in the UniVersus CCG Challenger Series. Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop and Vash the Stampede from Trigun Stampede look absolutely epic on this card art and will be must-haves for both players and collectors who share my love for these series.

In addition, UVS gave us a look at other fan-favorite characters from these two series, showcasing Faye Valentine and Nicholas D. Wolfwood, which can be used to helm a deck instead, fundamentally altering how the decks play and interact in the UniVersus CCG Challenger Series.

These two world-famous IPs are the first two Challenger Series which seamlessly blends IPs with endless gameplay and story-telling possibilities, advanced strategies for skilled players, and alternate art cards for collectors. In short, they check all my boxes and I can’t wait to get my hands on these sets.

The Challenger Series: Cowboy Bebop and Challenger Series: Trigun Stampede will include two pre-constructed tournament-ready decks featuring two-character cards, and a Collector’s Booster Pack of six foil cards with alternate artwork (alt-cards). The deck will have unique mechanics only available in the Challenger Series so be sure to score them both at your local gaming store, favorite card retailer, or over on the UVS Games site.
If you are not familiar with the UniVersus CCG, it’s been around quite some time putting out some really rad offerings from Penny Arcade to Mega Man a beyond. The UniVersus system is a very character-driven fighting card game that lets the player focus on a single character playing as fan favorites from a wide range of IPs across various anime and video game spaces.
Expect a lot more coverage of the system and their releases from our corner of the web and stay tuned for some seriously cool announcements coming very very soon!
Until next time, see you Space Cowboy…
