Cliched And Rushed – ‘World’s Finest: Teen Titans’ #6 Review

And so we have the final issue that, much like the previous , trades on tired tropes of the team book genre to deliver a rather lacklustre finale. Like so many others before them, the Titans find they are at their most effective when they work as a team. And when they do they take down the Terror Titans rather too quickly and conveniently given the build up to this final face-off has dominated much of this series. And, much like Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, we get epilogue after epilogue until you think it’ll never end. 

It’s not Mark Waid’s finest hour and even regular artist Emanuela Lupacchino doesn’t get through a whole issue on art duties. Although fill-in artist, Mike Norton, does a very good job of ageing her style enough that it isn’t too noticeable, allowing the story – as cliched as it is – to flow.

It’s a series that started off with so much potential, but that seems to be squandered on telling a tale of teenage angst and shaky relationships with the fallout dominating the series and much of the action too. So, while they are all united and hatchets have been buried, this last issue just felt a bit rushed.
