Dynamite Unveils ‘ThunderCats’ #2 Covers From David Nakayama And Ivan Tao

by Erik Amaya

The ThunderCats continue their journey on Third Earth with some great covers.

Dynamite revealed Thursday two additional covers for March’s ThunderCats #2 by David Nakayama and Ivan Tao. They joined the previously unveiled covers by Declan Shalvey, Lucio Parrillo, and Jae Lee. Inside the issue, from Shalvey and artist Drew Moss, the surviving ‘Cats have arrived on Third Earth, but their new home is beset with trouble. Lion-O attempts to contact the spirit of his predecessor, Jaga, using the Sight Beyond Sight for guidance, but the experience leads to another ThunderCat who also survived the destruction on Thundera. Elsewhere, Slythe and the Mu’Tants have discovered a pyramid where an ancient spirit of evil dwells. But are they prepared to face Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living?

“I’m really excited to keep the thunder rolling on this book,” Shalvey said in a statement. “Issue #1 is a re-introduction to the iconic characters we all remember, but #2 will reveal even more about the character relationships, and developing the threats they will have to face. Also, an exciting reveal of a specific character! And Drew’s pages are poetry in motion, he’s clearly upping his game on this series and boy, it shows.”

Moss added, “I really love Declan’s storytelling and pacing. He has been creating moments that are going to grab readers and keep them coming back for more. After the events at the end of issue one, which shocked me when I read it, you are going to want to see how the ‘Cats deal with it. The most fun I’ve had illustrating a book!”
