Created by Pat Mills and Kevin O’Neill, Nemesis The Warlock is one of the crown jewels of 2000 AD, one of its most iconic, influential, and plain brilliant sagas. This Definitive Edition series is intended to collect the whole thing in full and in order. Reproduced beautifully, complete with any original colours from colour centre-spread pages, this really is the finest way to read one of the most important sci-fi sagas published in the pages of 2000 AD.

In the second volume, we’re in as far as ‘The Gothic Empire’ storyline, where Torquemada’s crusade to destroy all alien life reaches the planet of the Goths, a species of alien which has modelled their culture on early twentieth-century Britain. Against Torquemada, we have Nemesis the Warlock, teaming up with the Goth leader, the Ion Duke, to stop all life on the planet being eradicated by Torquemada’s army of Terminators.

O’Neill’s artistic contributions ended (for now) with the first chapter of ‘The Gothic Empire‘, only to be replaced by the wonderful lines and penmanship of Bryan Talbot. The first of many new artists – and magnificent artists – to put their own unique take on the series.
