‘ThunderCats’ #1 Adds Cover By Rob Liefeld
by Erik Amaya
As we reported yesterday, ThunderCats #1 broke the 100,000 copies order threshold prior to the final order cut off date — a big milestone. To celebrate and encourage a bigger smash order, Dynamite announced on Thursday the addition of another cover. This one comes courtesy of Rob Liefeld and features the ‘Cats in his signature style:

We particularly like his rendition of Panthro. That’s a face ready to deal with that blasted samoflange.
The cover is being offered as an FOC bonus with both Black & White and virgin variants as retailer incentives. In case you’re interested in ordering, Dynamite also made available the Diamond order codes:

Within the pages of the debut issue, readers will find a new telling of the original ThunderCats story. Fleeing the destruction of their homeworld, Thundera, a group of ‘Cats crash land on Third Earth. A malfunctioning cry0-sleep tube allows the Thunderan heir apparent, Lion-O, to mature to manhood despite remaining asleep during their interstellar flight. Now, he must quickly learn how to lead as he is the only one capable of wielding the Sword of Omens. Unfortunately, he must also contend with their old foes, the Mutants of Plun Darr, and an Ancient Evil who also calls Third Earth home. From writer Declan Shalvey and artist Drew Moss, the series promises to tell the story of the ThunderCats in a slightly darker way than the original animated series, focusing more on the trauma of losing their planet, but also highlighting the adventure of their new world.
Also featuring covers from Shalvey, David Nakayama, Lucio Parrillo, Jae Lee, Ivan Tao, and more, ThunderCats #1 is due out on stands February 7th.
