‘James Bond’ #1 Goes Back To The Presses For Second Printing

by Erik Amaya

James Bond‘s latest mission was more successful than his minders expected.

Dynamite announced Wednesday that no copies remain of their new James Bond #1 at Diamond Comics Distributors and that the premiere issue is, in fact, sold out. But worry not 007 fans — the title is going back to the presses for a second printing.

Written by Garth Ennis with Rapha Lobosco on art, the series leans more into the Bond of Ian Fleming‘s novels than the film series it inspired. Back in October, Ennis called that Bond a “much darker character in a more interesting world.” The title’s first story,  “Your Cold, Cold Heart,” sees 007 tracking down the source of Stalvoda, a fabled Cold War weapon said to kill without leaving a trace. M, Q, Moneypenny, and Felix Leiter are on call for the adventure, as is Archie Tryon, a new character Ennis is introducing in the tale. Described as “an eccentric, old veteran who enjoys strolls into the sea,” he secured the original Stalvoda formula for Queen and Country. But Bond sees a glimpse of his future in Tryon and the beginning of a conspiracy that may lead into the heart of MI6 itself.

The second printing of issue #1 will be offered at Final Order Cutoff alongside James Bond #2 on January 29th. Both will be in stores on February 21st.
