Skybound Gives Fans An ‘Energon Universe Special’ Reprinting Its FCBD Comic Mere Days Later

Skybound/Image Comics and Hasbro have announced plans to repackage its Free Comic Book Day offering as the Energon Universe Special 2024 #1, featuring the same story content as the FCBD issue but with new covers. And at a price. Meaning you’d better grab your free comic on FCBD 2024 (Saturday May 4th, 2024) ahead of the reprint due to come out on Wednesday 8th May.
Or, they could have just overprinted the FCBD offering and offer fans a chance to save a penny or two.
The issue in question, either the free comic or the $3.99 issue (still a buck cheaper than most other comics on the shelves, I’ll give them that) will feature three all new stories from writers Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb, Wonder Woman: Dead Earth) and Joshua Williamson (Superman, Dark Ride), and artits Lorenzo De Felici (Kroma), Ryan Ottley (Invincible) and Jason Howard (Super Dinosaur).
In addition to the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spicer,Energon Universe Special 2024 #1will feature a slate of variant covers by friends of Skybound and top comics talent Lorenzo De Felici, Tom Reilly (Duke), Stephen Green (Impact Winter), and Khary Randolph (Excellence).
