by Tony Thornley
Marvel’s Voices has brought some fantastic stories from diverse voices to comics. This May, the biggest story the initiative has told will hit stands in a Marvel’s Voices– Pride special as the wedding of Mystique and Destiny is finally told in X-Men: The Wedding Special.
Raven Darkholme and Irene Alder is one of the greatest love stories in the Marvel Universe, and yet it’s one that’s barely been told. On May 29th, Marvel will reveal not just the couple’s vow renewal in the wake of the Fall of the House of X, but also the untold history of their relationship. Long-time X-Men writer and one of the key modern scribes of their relationship Kieron Gillen will tell the story, and he’ll be joined by Tini Howard, Tate Brombal, Wyatt Kennedy and more in some incredible back-ups featuring Loki, Betsy Braddock & Rachel Summers.

“They’ve been through hell, mainly at my pen,” Gillen said. “Finally, giving these two a happy day? How can I say no?”
Mystique and Destiny are some of the most important LGBTQ characters in comics. The duo have been through hell and back, and shared many adventures. They’ve led the Brotherhood of Mutants together, started a family and even led a nation. It’s a momentous issue, as important to the Marvel Universe as Fantastic Four Annual #3, Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21 and X-Men #30.
