In 1868 in North Dakota, retired soldier Bill Simmons starts a new life with his new family on land issued to him as part of the Homestead Act.
Unbeknownst to him, the land he has been granted by the United States government overlaps with territories occupied by the Lakota Nation. Among the Lakota is a proud warrior and a zealous medicine man willing to go to supernatural extremes in order to protect their people, their loved ones, and their way of life.
What results is an equally horrific and heartbreaking battle as these two parties wage an intense and isolated war with each other as they both try to protect what they feel is theirs by any means necessary… including embracing the “Spirit of the Wolf.”
