WizKids’ Strongheart: A Welcome Addition To Any D&D Collection

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

There is no secret that my favorite character in all of D&D is the Warduke. Why? Because he is somehow both cartoonishly goofy and hauntingly terrifying. In the epic yarn that is the lore of Warduke, there is a figure who was at one point his best friend, but after the heartstone got all magical on things, became his sworn enemy.

I’m talking about the noble Strongheart.

First introduced in the 2nd edition as part of the early adventures in Greyhawk, I remember Strongheart being a favorite of a lot of the elder nerds in the back of the comic shop I spent my time in. He was talked about as the perfect soldier, the hand of justice, and honestly, to a small child trying to grasp big concepts, I saw him as Captain America  in D&D form.

Now, Strongheart’s backstory varies depending on what edition, setting, and table you are looking at or listening to, but in broad strokes, he is often depicted as a champion of righteousness who comes from the kingdom of Furyondy located in the Greyhawk setting.

Being such an Icon, you know WizKids and NECA had to do a version of the character in their D&D figure line. They have really knocked it out of the park with this one. The window box for these D&D characters fits perfectly on a shelf next to my core books and they have this cool window that swings open and closed with a velcro catch to protect the figure and plastic inside from light damage.

The figure itself also has a ton of detail including 20+ points of articulation, a shield, a hammer, hands you can swap out, a shield, dagger, alternate hands, and of course Stronghearts’s intelligent lawful +2 sword.

If you want to add this icon of heroism to your collection you can grab this version at this link or check out the pre-order for the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons edition at this link.

Until next time, I take jabs at Strongheart purely based on my Warduke fandom but he is a pretty cool character and this figure is absolutely epic and will make a perfect addition to anyone’s D&D collection.
