Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s ‘Amélie’ Arriving On Steelbook Blu-ray And DVD
by David Lewis
Travel back to the turn of the millennium with the upcoming release of Amélie, director Jean-Pierre Jeunet‘s 2001 cult favorite. The Oscar-nominated film will be available on limited edition Blu-ray steelbook and DVD later this month.
The frantic, Paris-set romantic fantasy stars Audrey Tatou as an adorable oddball who spends her time secretly improving strangers’ lives using playfully clever tricks and ruses. She eventually crosses paths with an enigmatic sex shop employee (Mathieu Kassovitz), whose own brand of eccentricities take the film’s whimsicality to a whole new level.

Amélie also stars Lorella Cravotta, Rufus, and Dominique Pinon.
The new steelbook release contains both versions with an audio commentary by co-writer/director Jeunet, Q&As with the director and the cast, audition tapes, multiple featurettes and behind-the-scenes docs, and the trailer. Additionally, the Blu-ray includes a new, exclusive featurette called Jean-Pierre Jeunet Looks Back. The Blu-ray also includes a DTS-HD MA 5.1 track, which should nicely highlight Yann Tiersen‘s memorable score.
Amélie will be available on DVD and limited edition Blu-ray steelbook March 26.
