TV Review — ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ Season 3, Episode 3: Crossfire Grows And Omega Shines

After a couple slow episodes to set the stage, Star Wars: The Bad Batch delivers one of its greatest episodes yet as both Crossfire (Dee Bradley Baker) and Omega (Michelle Ang) share some much-needed time together. Crossfire has been an interesting character in the series thus far. He was originally painted as a villain and traitor to the Bad Batch, but things haven’t turned out all right for him. Meanwhile, Omega never gave up on him. It’s this childlike optimism that makes Omega such a compelling character during a time of such tyranny. And when many write her off as just a useless kid, she proves time and time again — especially during this episode — just how resourceful she can be.
After narrowly escaping the Empire, Omega and Crosshair crash land on a planet and have to find a way to safety. They quickly run into problems with the Empire, but the pair work together magnificently to evade them. In the episode’s closing moments, Omega manages to reunite with the other members of the Bad Batch. The episode then ends on a very tense moment as Crosshair exits the ship and comes face to face with his former squad mates under much different circumstances than the last time they met.
The contrast between Omega and Crosshair plays a huge role in this episode. Crosshair needs to be rehabilitated a bit. He made a humongous mistake trusting the Empire and it has come back to haunt him. He faced a crossroads in this episode as he could have easily left Omega and went his own way. The fact that he remains and helped her in her quest to do right by her friends proves he’s changing. Fans will surely be upset about the cliffhanger the episode ended on, but it just means that the next one will be all the more special.
