Xbox Partner Preview Unveils Over A Dozen Games

by Sage Ashford

Xbox recently held the Xbox Partner Preview, offering over a dozen games from different third-party partners. The titles ran the gamut from ports to new announcements to first looks at gameplay — all in a tight presentation of just around thirty minutes.  Some of the highlights of the showcase include Unknown 9: Awakening, Sleight of Hand, Alters, The First Berserker: Khazan, and the next major game from Capcom: Kunitsu-gami: Path of the Goddess.

The first big reveal was from Reflector Entertainment, with the gameplay premiere of Unknown 9: Awakening, which publisher Bandai Namco talks about:

You play as Haroona, a fierce truth-seeker (what we call a “Quaestor”) with a unique connection to another dimension known as the Fold. This other plane of existence contains powerful energy and long-lost knowledge that, if brought to light, could usher us into a wondrous era of advancement. However, if this forgotten wisdom falls into the wrong hands, it could lead to our inevitable demise.

Determined to avenge the wrongs of her past, Haroona’s imminent journey will turn out to involve far more than just retribution. Humanity’s fate is at risk, and her ties to the Fold may be the key to securing our continued existence.

This quest will have you uncover the long-lost secrets of our collective past. You’ll also learn to tap into the Fold’s energy, gifting you incredible skills, known as Umbric abilities, that allow you to take down anyone who stands in your way.

Next was RiffRaff Games’ Sleight of Hand, a third-person, deckbuilder stealth sim. In the game, players infiltrate their old witch coven using a powerful set of cards.

Next was 11 bit studios’ Alters, a sci-fi game in which the main character, Jan, is trapped on a planet and trying to survive. His only way out is relying on a mysterious substance known as Rapidium, plus his space base’s Quantum Computer, to create a number of clones that can help him survive and possibly make his way home.

Nexon and Neople bring the action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan from the Dungeon & Fighter universe. Teased at The Game Awards last year, The First Berserker focuses on General Khazan, a man on a quest for vengeance in a dark fantasy universe.

The biggest title, though, was the appearance of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. The action-strategy game offers a unique experience that involves having the right amount of preparation in the daytime, while battling with monsters at night.

All in all, this was a good showing for Xbox — one much-needed presentation after their Xbox Business Meeting.
