‘MultiVersus’ Returns May 28

by Sage Ashford

In a special developer update, Player First Games co-founder Tony Huynh announced the return of Warner Bros. Games platform fighter MultiVersus. After going down last June, MultiVersus was quiet for the last few months until resurfacing with this update.

Since then however, Player First Games has made what seems to be extensive changes to the game. For one, they’ve moved from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 to improve the game’s visuals and lighting. The update also mentions they rebuilt the game’s netcode to ensure consistent performance across all platforms. The update also promised new characters, new moves for existing characters, and a PvE mode for people to enjoy outside of traditional PvP, which will offer “additional ways of playing with unique rewards.”

When MultiVersus went offline last year, the general sentiment was that it stood little chance of coming in and building up an audience once again. However, Player First Games seems devoted to making this a complete experience. Since the game is still free to play, it may yet be a hit.

MultiVersus relaunches May 28th for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and on Steam.
