Joe Casey And Sebastián Piriz To Chart The Course For ‘Jonny Quest’; Free Comic Book Day Issue Revealed

by Erik Amaya

The Jonny Quest comic book series has its creative team.

Dynamite announced Tuesday that writer Joe Casey, artist Sebastián Piriz, colorist Lorenzo Scaramella, and letterer Taylor Esposito will chart the new course for Jonny, Hadji, Race Bannon, Dr. Benton Quest, and Bandit. The back-to-basics approach sees Jonny and the rest at their original ages from the 1960s Hanna-Barbera animated series as they tackle new government assignments, solve mysteries, and apprehend “sophisticated villains for the betterment of mankind.”

“Fun adventure is what it’s all about,” Casey said in a statement. “Getting the characters’ voices right has been a real kick.”

It all begins with a Free Comic Book Day issue and the 10-page story designed to “whet readers’ appetites” for the full series, starting early in the summer. The free issue also sports a Chris Samnee cover and previews of Dynamite’s other collaborations with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products: ThunderCats (currently on store shelves if you can find the sold out issues) and Space Ghost, debuting just ahead of Free Comic Book Day on May 1st.

More information about the full series will be forthcoming from Dynamite.

The Jonny Quest FCBD issue will be available at participating comic book shops on May 4th.
