Jumping On — Series Premieres, One-Shots, And New Story Arcs For March 20, 2024

One of the most frustrating things about finding new comics to read and enjoy is finding a good jumping on point. It can be confusing and disheartening to pick up a single issue from the middle of an arc without having the context of the previous chapters.

With that in mind, here are a few New Story Arcs, Series Premieres, and One-Shots that caught my eye for this upcoming New Comic Book Day, Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Untold Destiny of the Foot Clan #1, IDW

There are a couple things in this solicit that caught my eye. First, ‘Okuru Karai has spent her life in the shadow of lesser men: her father, and then her grandfather, Oruku Saki.’ Oruku Saki is The Shredder. Karai views the Turtles’ deadliest foe as a ‘lesser man.’ She finds him weak, and despises the legacy he has left her. 

Now the Foot Clan is hers to command, and she has grand designs on seeing her clan reach its full potential. Something about Saki sharing mystical secrets with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has Karai up in arms. As she and those loyal to her set out to master the ancient way of the ninja, she’ll discover that she’s not the only one who lays claim to the Foot Clan’s destiny.

Web of Spider-Man #1, Marvel

Marvel has been going on and on about 2024 being one of the biggest years in Spider-History. This one-shot lays out some of the big plans for upcoming Spider-Stories and characters in the Spider-Verse. I’d highly recommend grabbing this one for the web-heads in your life, to get a preview of upcoming arcs and developments in the Spider-Verse through the beginning of 2025.

Dawnrunner #1, Dark Horse

A portal opened over Central America a century ago. The Tetza that came through changed our world. Now the world concentrates all its effort into making the Iron Kings; great mechs that must battle the Tetza for humanity’s continued survival in gladiatorial combat. Anita Marr is the greatest Iron King pilot and is chosen to command a new prototype that could change the tide in humanity’s favor.
