Dare You Read It Alone? ‘Misty’ Returns With Gail Simone This Summer

Announced by Gail Simone at WonderCon this past weekend – Misty, the classic British horror comic anthology for women is back with Simone masterminding the whole thing!
Misty was THE classic horror series of the ’70s, offering thrills and chills for a generation of young women in the UK. Created by Pat Mills and featuring stories from creators including Shirley Bellwood, Jesus Redondo, Jordi Badía Romero, and Mills, it’s one of the most fondly remembered Brit comics of all time. The original Misty ran for over 100 issues in total, with each issue hosted by Misty, acting as a guiding voice for her young readers.
Now Misty is rising from the grave and coming back as a brand new 48-page special, masterminded by Gail Simone, who writes three of the four tales inside, with art by Carola Borelli, Aly Fell, and Marianna Ignazzi. The fourth story is written and drawn by rising star Letty Wilson. Completing this spectacularly spooky package is a cover from Eisner-winning artist Tula Lotay.
It’s the latest of the Treasury of British Comics reboots of Misty, having previously done several Misty & Scream Specials. This one does seem a little different though, with the obvious inclusion of Simone giving it great star power and hopefully this one will be not only a great read but a big hit as well.
The four stories included in this collection are:
“Eleven Lonely Deaths – A true-crime podcaster visits a decades-old crime scene where eleven women lost their lives at the hands of a vicious strangler. There, he meets a mysterious young woman who knows more about the crimes than should be possible…
The Pub at the End of the Road – An unscrupulous landlord of a dreary pub in the English countryside makes his gifted daughter work her fingers to the bone, and turns a blind eye to the customers’ wandering hands. She seeks solace in a secret love… until she’s forced to use her extraordinary gifts…
Happy Birthday, Mrs. Parker – set in a small English town where nothing’s been quite the same since the murders of eleven women some years ago.
The Cracked Glass – a tale too terrifying to even tell you about! Writer/artist Letty Wilson has some dark surprises in store for readers.”
