The Eternal Love Of Mystique & Destiny Is Revealed In ‘X-Men: The Wedding Special’

One of the greatest developments of the last few years is the confirmation of Mystique and Destiny’s relationship. In June’s special Pride anthology issue X-Men: The Wedding Special, we’ll get to learn more about their love as well as other LGBTQ-oriented stories.

Marking Marvel’s first wedding between two women, May’s issue is a unique take on the publisher’s annual Pride special. With a lead story by Kieron Gillen and Rachel Stott, the special will trace the 100 year history of Raven Darkholme and Irene Adler’s romance, as well as their special night. The special will also include other stories, including:

·       Betsy Braddock & Rachel Summers are featured in an adventure by the writer who brought them together—Excalibur scribe Tini Howard! Joined by rising star Phillip Sevy, the story finds the couple face to face with the Omniversal Majestrix, Opal Luna Saturnyne! Just about everyone in the Marvel Universe is invited to Raven & Irene’s vow renewal…except for Saturnyne. And she’s not happy- But why is she taking it out on Captain Britain & Prestige?

·      In their Marvel Comics debut, writer Tate Bombal and artist Emilio Pilliu give us a touching and action-packed story starring Wolverine! Logan has a very long- and violent- history with Mystique and teams with Anole, Pixie, Indra, and Bling! To find her the perfect gift. They’re dragged on a whirlwind journey that takes them from the Savage Land to Limbo, where they’ll learn a valuable lesson about the importance of queer representation.

·       Everyone’s favorite X-Couple take the spotlight. It’s her mothers’ big day, and Rogue has entrusted their favorite (not favorite) son-in-law/ her husband with their wedding bands. But can master thief Gambit stay out of trouble long enough to deliver them? Knowing Remy, the answer is no, but hey, that does mean hijinks! See exactly what happens in this story about one of mutantkind’s most complicated families by two more Marvel Comics newcomers, writer Wyatt Kennedy and artist Jenn St. Onge

·       Mystique & Destiny receive the gift of pre-marriage psychic counseling courtesy of Emma Frost! See how the inspiring love of two former villains holds up against a telepathic journey through some hard truths in this twisty tale by writer Yoon Ha Lee in his exciting Marvel Comics debut alongside acclaimed artist Stephen Byrne!
