Jumping On — Series Premieres, One-Shots, And New Story Arcs Kicking Off On April 10, 2024

One of the most frustrating things about finding new comics to read and enjoy is finding a good jumping on point. It can be confusing and disheartening to pick up a single issue from the middle of an arc without having the context of the previous chapters.

With that in mind, here are a few New Story Arcs, Series Premieres, and One-Shots that caught my eye for this upcoming New Comic Book Day, Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Dungeons & Dragons: The Thief of Many Things #1, IDW

The most infamous item in the D&D canon is the Deck of Many Things. Any one of its cards has the power to throw the world into chaos, or end it altogether. This one-shot reveals fresh lore tied to the Book of Many Things Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook and brings the legends of the Deck to life.

Dungeons & Dragons icon Jim Zub joins forces with co-writer Ellen Boener and artist Eduardo Mello for this new Baldur’s Gate tale.

Hercules #1, Dynamite

For a slight change of pace, here’s an all-ages title. Dynamite does a solid job with their licensed titles, and this Wednesday, they take a crack at Disney’s version of Heracles.

The world’s favorite demigod-turned-mortal is back, prepared to embark on the biggest adventure since The Odyssey.

The Greek gods don’t really get why Hercules chose a mortal life over the opportunity to join them on Mt. Olympus, but since he proved his mettle as a hero many times over, they’re happy to enlist his help with missions that require interventions in the earthly realm. When Aphrodite grants an artist’s wish that his sculpture be brought to life, Herc gets the call to clean things up when the newly conscious artwork proves to be more bone-crushingly lively than expected.
