Anime Boston 2024: Discovering The ‘Maiden Singularity’ Doujinshi

Maiden Singularity is an erotic fantasy Doujinshi created by artist BLVEFO9 and published by J18. The single volume caught my eye because it looked like a slightly racier version of a magical girl story with elemental powers.
Maiden Singularity follows a new admin at a prestigious school for supernatural girls. The first volume packs in a lot of world-building even to the point where I forgot I was reading a Hentai Doujinshi. There are sex scenes and hijinks of course, but the story and characters are just as gripping in their own right.
BLVEFO9 managed to deliver a unique product that’s equal parts fantasy manga and erotic doujin. The artist plans is to reboot the series in the next volume to more fully integrate the world-building with the characters and their sexuality. Even as the start of something bigger, Maiden Singularity is marvelous. The book challenges the idea of what a doujinshi can be and reminds us once again that Hentai is art.
