You Should Watch ‘Shin Ultraman’ — Here’s A Few Reason Why

I really enjoyed Shin Kamen Rider from director Hideaki Anno. The film mixed vintage design sensibilities with cutting-edge cinematography in a way unseen in big-budget superhero blockbusters. Shin Ultraman is created in a similar vein to Shin Kamen Rider –re-imagining a classic Japanese superhero for a modern audience without losing the vintage charm.
The film takes place in a Japan rocked by environmental disasters caused by giant Kaiju. Just when things appear bleakest, a silver giant appears, codename: Ultraman.
Shin Ultraman embraces the handcrafted design sensibilities and the unique textures that digital effects can provide. Everything in the film is played completely straight even when the fantastic elements are obviously special effects. Anno’s use of creative camera angles make even long conversations exciting to watch.
After becoming jaded to the CGI spectacle of most superhero films, I was surprised, transported, and charmed by Shin Ultraman.
