‘Star Wars: Hunters’ Brings Arena Combat To ‘Star Wars’ Fans; Release Date Confirmed

by Sage Ashford

Developers NaturalMotion and BossAlien have confirmed the launch date of their upcoming free to play arena action title, Star Wars: Hunters.

Originally announced three years ago, Star Wars: Hunters has developed into a fully-formed game with multiple game modes, battlefields, and classes for players to draw from.  The official website offers an overview:

Join the greatest Hunters from across the Star Wars galaxy on the planet of Vespaara where high-stakes competitions are awaiting them in the Arena. Engage in thrilling third person combat to dominate your opponents in a range of adventurous battlegrounds that evoke iconic Star Wars worlds. Mix and match teams, use skill, tactics and customize your Hunters to find a winning strategy and reap the spoils of victory in the all-new free-to-play game.

Disney has talked about wanting to have a Star Wars game release every six months. They haven’t quite hit that target yet, but they’re getting rather close, with Jedi Survivor releasing last year, Star Wars: Hunters releasing this year, and Star Wars: Outlaws releasing in the second half. Game development though is tricky — hitting a rigid biannual schedule might be hard, but as long as they keep the quality up, the fans will be there.

Star Wars: Outlaws releases for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch on June 4th.
