Vampi is ready for a black-and-white close-up in this Jay Anacleto cover.
Dynamite announced Thursday that the monochrome cover — already announced for Vampirella: Dark Reflections #1 — will be available to fans and retailers as an open order during the final order cutoff this week. Unlike traditional FOC covers, which require retailers to hit a certain number of main cover issues ordered to receive incentive cover copies, this beautiful image will be an option for fans to request ahead of the FOC date.
The series itself sees the return of writers Tom Sniegoski and Jeannine Acheson to the character. Alongside artist Daniel Maine, the story focuses on an “unexpected protagonist” taking the lead to uncover what became of one of the multiversal Vampirellas. Lilith, daughter of a Vampi, goes “through the looking glass, tasked with investigating an anomaly in the Fabric. Working for the Reality Corp., she learns that the Vampirella of this reality has gone eerily silent, broken and beaten by the spawn of Chaos in the battle of good and evil.”
Now it’s up to Lilith to cross the multiverse, meet different Vampirellas from varying circumstances, and restore the beaten Vampi to fighting shape once more. Nevertheless, this will be a darker tale featuring a Vampirella who has lost everything.
“It was really cool getting to develop the new character of Lilith, Vampirella’s daughter, who we first met in the Vampiverse mini-series, into her own distinct person,” Sniegoski and Acheson said in a statement last March. “We hope to do more with this unique version of Vampirella in the future!”
Vampirella: Dark Reflections #1 is scheduled for release in June. FOC for the issue occurs this weekend, so if you’re interested in the cover, ask your comic shop owner about it ASAP.
