‘Wolverine’ Goes Feral In August Relaunch From Ahmed & Coccolo

The man called Logan has been a bit of everything. In September, the X-Men From The Ashes relaunch will see Wolverine return to the wilds that made him the man he is, with one of his closest friends, some of his deadliest foes and a new and terrifying threat alongside him.
Coming from writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Martin Coccolo, this relaunch puts Wolverine back in a familiar setting in the Canadian wilds. But Kurt Wagner has followed him to try to remind him of the hero is. Unfortunately for both X-Men, some of Wolverine’s most frightening and deadly foes have followed them, and with each battle a terrifying threat builds the strength to destroy Wolverine and the entire world after him.
“When I was a kid, Wolverine was the coolest character in comics,” Ahmed shared. “That hasn’t changed a whole lot for me, so when Marvel approached me about a new solo Logan book, it was an instant YES.”
“Logan is simultaneously a mythic hero, an abused animal, and a man of flesh, blood, and adamantium,” he continued. “Our story is about what happens when these parts of him all pull in opposite directions – and threaten to rip Logan to pieces that won’t come back together again.”
“I could talk for hours about why I decided to take this relaunch, but you want my real answer? It’s Wolverine. That’s it,” Cóccolo shared. “It’s a dream come true for me, and I can’t believe I get to tell my younger self every day that I’m drawing WOLVERINE. Saladin’s exploration of the character and the story is incredibly exciting as a concept as well as visually engaging, and I can’t wait for people to finally see it!”
The pitch for this series isn’t dissimilar for Ahmed’s plot to Daredevil (though different enough that Ahmed is clearly not just repeating himself). That slow build of threats to a bigger foe definitely is in his wheelhouse, and it’ll be interesting to see how the series unfolds. Also, making this series a Wolverine/Nightcrawler team-up book is a great move that I’m all in favorite of, especially with Coccolo illustrating it.
