‘Iron Fist’ Legend David Aja Returns For 50th Anniversary Special
by Tony Thornley
Iron Fist is one of Marvel’s greatest heroes. This year, he celebrates his fiftieth anniversary, and one of the most influential creators in his history is coming along for the ride for a celebratory anthology..
In 2006, Danny Rand was still wearing the tights, slippers and disco collar of his 1970’s debut. Spinning out of a short time where Danny stood in for Daredevil, Immortal Iron Fist launched, with superstars Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction writing for a then-up-and-coming artist, David Aja. In visually redefining Iron Fist and his world, Aja became a superstar himself, and in August he returns to the character that made him a star.

“I knew I wouldn’t be doing this anniversary book justice if I couldn’t get David to come back for a cover!” Editor Danny Khazem shared. “His run with Matt Fraction and Ed Brubaker was a pivotal point in Iron Fist’s history, and inspirational for me as a reader!”
The Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special will include:
· Visionary Iron Fist scribe Chris Claremont teams up with artist Lan Medina for a classic tale set during Iron Fist’s early years and co-starring fellow birthday boy Wolverine!
· Alyssa Wong, the writer behind today’s Iron Fist, brings you the next chapter of Lin Lie’s saga alongside artist Von Randal.
· Writer Justina Ireland and artist Elena Casagrande send Iron Fist on a mission where he join forces with his longtime allies — The Daughters of the Dragon!
· Writer Frank Tieri and artist Ty Templeton’s story sees Iron Fist send out the call to his old teammates — Heroes for Hire!
· And writer Jason Loo and artist Whilce Portacio spotlight what the future may hold for Danny Rand!
