Zoop Projects And Creators Nominated For Multiple Eisners

Last week, the nominees for the 2024 Eisner Awards were announced. Included amongst this year’s “comic book Oscars” are three nominations for projects which originated on the crowdfunding platform Zoop.
The anthology Comics For Ukraine, assembled by editor Scott Dunbier, earned two nominations. One for Best Anthology for the overall collection, and one for Best Short Story for a specific tale in the anthology, Talking to a Hill by Larry Hancock and Michael Cherkas. The nominations come on the heels of Dunbier being honored with the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award for the same project at last year’s awards.
The third Zoop-originating nomination was garnered by British comics legend, Bryan Talbot. In the category of Best Comics Related Book, his book Bryan Talbot: Father of the British Graphic Novel is nominated under his publishing banner, Brianstorm Studios, along with co-writer, J.D. Harlock.
Speaking about the recent nominations, Jordan Plosky, the CEO of Zoop, says, “We are incredibly proud of the work that originates on our platform. And when it is recognized this way from our peers in the industry, it is incredibly fulfilling. We congratulate those creators nominated, and are wishing them all luck at the awards this year.”
In addition to these projects currently available on Zoop, two other creators with projects on the site also received nominations. In the category of Best New Series, Patrick Horvath was nominated for Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees from IDW. Another Horvath project, Free For All, is currently funded and has just about 2 weeks left in its campaign on Zoop.
Similarly, Tim Seely’s Local Man is nominated for Best New Series. Zoop’s first licensed property to be turned into a tabletop game, Hack/Slash: The Card Game, based on Seeley’s long running comic Hack/Slash, is currently funding on Zoop as well.
