EXCLUSIVE: Dark Horse Announces Its Next ‘Midst’ One-Shot, ‘Midst: The Valorous Farmer’

by Rachel Bellwoar

Following April’s news that Dark Horse (in conjunction with Critical Role and Third Person) would be launching a comic book series based on the space-Western podcast, Midst, it’s time to reveal the details behind the second of two announced one-shots so far.

As someone who hasn’t a chance to listen to the podcast yet, I’m intrigued by the details that have been disclosed (and the series is meant to appeal to new fans and old alike).

There haven’t been too many comics about mail carriers, for example, yet Midst: Address Unknown is supposed to be about a postal ship crash and comes from Colin Lorimer (writer), Alejandro Aragónthe (artist), Chris O’Halloran (colorist), and Jim Campbell (letterer). If you’ve been keeping up with Dark Horse’s solicitations, though, than you already know that. Here’s the EXCLUSIVE solicitation text for Midst: The Valorous Farmer:

“Third Person and Critical Role proudly present a new series of stories from the Midst cosmos.

In the Un, the Trust can make or break you…. For years Hildebrand has run the family farm alone, with only their reliable old truck, a few far-off neighbors, and their own common sense to rely on. When they’re hit by a series of disasters, they must take desperate measures to keep the farm going. But the source of those disasters isn’t done with Hildebrand, even as their life starts unraveling….

Indulge in a timely and lusciously rendered story from the cosmos of Midst! Featuring writing by Jasmine Walls, art by Aviv Or, and colors by Quinton Winter.”

Midst: The Valorous Farmer goes on sale September 11th from Dark Horse Comics and is priced at $7.99 for 48 pages. Jim Campbell is also the letterer for this one-shot.
