Firewalk Offers A Look At The Gameplay Of Multiplayer Sci-Fi Shooter ‘Concord’
by Sage Ashford
In PlayStation’s recent State of Play, Firewalk Studios was able to give a first look at their upcoming multiplayer shooter, Concord. They started with a surprisingly long cinematic reveal before premiering a gameplay trailer. The trailer introduces a handful of the game’s main characters, members of a shop called the Northstar. The Northstar crew are Freegunners, guns-for-hire willing to take on any job to make money, even if it means running into other Freegunners.
With sixteen characters confirmed so far, there’ll be a wide array of characters to take into different maps and modes, each with their own special abilities and weapons. If the opening trailer seems very story-centric for a multiplayer game, that’s by design. The developers have confirmed that there will be stories that unfold in game that will start weekly. These will be shown through shorts that will offer more detail for the characters and their relationships with each other and the wider Concord univverse.
Concord will continue to add characters post-launch through free updates, along with new maps, modes, and cinematic vignettes. First however, a new beta will be launching sometime in the next two months. No date was given, but that beta can’t be too late considering Concord launches August 23rd for PlayStation 5 and PC.
