The campaign to bring back classic Darkwing Duck comics into print is now live.
As we previously reported, the Kickstarter is part of Dynamite’s long-terms plans for the Terror Who Flaps in the Night: a return of the initial comics the character appeared in during the 1990s. Across three volumes in the campaign, the vintage DW material will be joined by the 10-issue 2022 Darkwing Duck comic published by Dynamite and written by Amanda Deibert with Carlo Cid Lauro on art.
The “Heroes & Villains” volume will collect the Dynamite Darkwing follow-up, Justice Ducks (written by Roger Langridge with Lauro remaining on art), and the Negaduck spinoff from Jeff Parker and Ciro Cangialosi, which saw DW’s archfoe try to prove he’s the best and baddest of St. Canard’s villains.
The third volume will contain the vintage material, starting with the initial 1991 four-issue series from Disney Comics and the strips printed in Marvel’s Disney Afternoon magazine. These stories feature the work of people like DW’s creator, Tad Stones, John Blair Moore, and more.
Each volume will be available in both softcover and hardcover with tiers for the latter offering copies signed by Stones or featuring “original remarqued sketches” by Ken Haeser (limited to 500 copies). And those who pledge withing the first 48 hours will receive a limited edition Darkwing Duck print. Other campaign incentives includes copies of Dynamite’s various Darkwing Duck titles in their original serialized format, limited edition facsimiles of the first issue from the 1991 series with gold and purple foil, and “deluxe lithograph and giclée prints of artwork, and commissioned original artwork from superstars Jae Lee and Ken Haeser.”
Those interested in pledging can head over to the campaign page here.
