Classic Comedy Special ‘Richard Pryor: Live On The Sunset Strip’ Ready For 4K Spotlight

There are very few stand-up comedy specials that have produced a legacy that has lasted decades, let alone warrant a release on 4K UHD. Richard Pryor: Live On the Sunset Strip is one of them.
Shot live at Los Angeles’s Hollywood Palladium in 1982, Live On the Sunset Strip captures Pryor’s manic stage presence as he discusses topics including searching for his family roots on a trip to Africa, his early days as a comic performing in clubs owned by the mob, and his infamous brush with death after accidentally setting himself on fire while freebasing cocaine.
Directed by Broadway vet Joe Layton, Live On the Sunset Strip showcases one of the greatest stand-up comics in history at the peak of his powers.
The special has been scanned from the original camera negative, and is presented in 4K Dolby Vision and DTS-HD. The disc also includes the theatrical trailer.
The 4K Ultra HD disc will be available on September 10th.
