Arrow Video’s September Releases Include Vin Diesel’s ‘Riddick’ And Rare Kinji Fukasaku

A rare thriller from the director of Battle Royale, Spanish cult horror, and Vin Diesel co-starring with Dame Judi Dench? It must be another Arrow Video announcement! The boutique disc label has unveiled their September physical releases and they don’t disappoint, mixing well-known American genre films with lesser-seen international fare.
First up is The Threat, a rare early thriller from director Kinji Fukasaku (Battles Without Honor and Humanity, Battle Royale) starring Misawa (Vengeance is Mine‘s Rentarō Mikuni). Available for the first time outside of Japan, the limited edition Uk-only Blu-ray includes a reversible sleeve, illustrated booklet, and a poster featuring new artwork by Tony Stella.
Diesel rides again on 4K Ultra HD with the release of The Chronicles of Riddick, the 2004 sequel to the sci-fi/horror hit Pitch Black from writer-director David Twohy. It also stars Dench, Keith David, and Karl Urban. The three disc limited edition set, also available on Blu-ray, offers both the theatrical and director’s cuts of the film, hours of TBA bonus features, a reversible sleeve, and an illustrated booklet.
Finally, September will also bring Love, Death & Apocalypse: Three Films by Álex de la Iglesia, collecting a trio of the Spanish director’s cinematic shockers, all making their debut on 4K in the U.K. Produced by Pedro Almodóvar, Acción Mutante is a violent sci-fi black comedy, while The Day of the Beast mixes horror and comedy. Finally, Perdita Durango, based on a novel by Barry Gifford (Wild at Heart), offers a twisted take on romance with a starry cast, including Rosie Perez, Javier Bardem, and James Gandolfini. The 4K Ultra HD release includes new and vintage extra features, fold-out posters, an illustrated booklet, and reversible sleeves. The set will also be available on limited edition Blu-ray.
Meanwhile, Arrow’s physical releases for August include Silence of the Lambs, Heathers, and more.
