Arrow Will Unleash Krakens, Lambs, Mariachis, Heathers, More On 4K This August

Arrow Video has a very big August planned on the physical media front, with gun-slinging singers, wine-sipping cannibals, murderous high schoolers, and, of course, krakens.
Leading the roster is Robert Rodriguez‘s The Mexico Trilogy, making its 4K UHD disc debut. The action trio begins with the micro-budgeted El Mariachi (1992), starring Carlos Gallardo as the titular singer-assassin. After that film’s success on home video, Rodriguez received studio backing to expand the franchise significantly with 1995’s sorta-remake-sorta-sequel Desperado, starring Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, and Quentin Tarantino. A third film, Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) had an even bigger budget, reuniting Banderas and Hayek, while adding Johnny Depp, Eva Mendes, Mickey Rourke, and Willem Dafoe to the mix.
The four-disc set includes 4K UHD and Blu-ray, and comes with reversible sleeves, a poster and booklet, and special features including new and archival featurettes and interviews.
Desperado is also getting a separate Zavvi exclusive limited edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray Dual Format Steelbook release, which comes with a 32-page collectors’ booklet.
Arrow is also releasing The Silence of the Lambs in 4K UHD in August. In case you’ve been living at the bottom of a well for the last three decades or so, Jonathan Demme’s Oscar-winning horror classic introduces Anthony Hopkins as brainy cannibal Hannibal Lecter to rookie FBI agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) as she tries to track down a serial killer before he strikes again. This UK-only release is available in several versions, including limited edition 4K UHD, as well as an Arrow Store exclusive 4K UHD, and on Blu-ray. Special features include new interviews and featurettes, a reversible sleeve, double-sided poster and lobby cards, and a collector’s booklet.
The classics continue with Arrow’s UK-only release of Heathers on 4K Ultra HD. Director Michael Lehmann‘s High School satire stars Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, and is presented here with special features yet to be revealed, plus a slipcover with original artwork.
Memento Mori: The Jörg Buttgereit Collection, an Arrow Store exclusive limited edition Blu-ray, includes four films from German filmmaker Jörg Buttgereit, including his 1987 debut Nekromantik, and its sequel Nekromantik 2. Der Todesking and Schramm round out the five-disc set, which also includes short films, a 100-page book, and a 16mm film strip.
The Woman and Offspring, two films from horror director Lucky McKee (May), will also make their 4K UHD debut, packaged with a collector’s booklet, and reversible sleeve.
Finally, say it with us: “Release the kraken!” That’s right, August will also see the release of When Titans Ruled The Earth: Clash of the Titans & Wrath of the Titans, a two-disc set featuring the 2010 film and its less-remembered sequel, both making their 4K Ultra HD debut. Stars include Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Édgar Ramírez, Rosamund Pike, and Bill Nighy. Extras include a collector’s book, and reversible sleeves and double-sided posters for each film. The set will also be available on limited edition Blu-ray.
