Run A Witch Delivery Service In ‘Mika And The Witch’s Mountain’

by Sage Ashford

Ever wished Kiki’s Delivery Service was actually a video game? Apparently, so did Chibig and Nukefist, developers of the upcoming Mika and the Witch’s Mountain. As players explore Mont Gaun, they’ll deliver packages to citizens there while preparing to go from apprentice witch to proper witch.

Check out the Steam page for the synopsis:

“Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is a fantasy adventure about an aspiring witch who delivers packages to the townspeople of a small island. Explore every nook and cranny and soar through the sky with your magic broom.

This coming-of-age journey will take us to the top of the mountain through a story of effort, friendship, and community; and will let our hearts fly free.

Take your magic broom and discover all the secrets hidden in the mountain while getting to know its charming inhabitants. Work hard and get a magic broom good enough to achieve your goal: to go to the top of the mountain.”

While the focus is reaching the top of the mountain, there’s more to the gameplay than that. Players will learn how to protect packages from the weather, while also exploring every part of the mountain to learn more about it. Mika and the Witch’s Mountain feels like the kind of game the indie world needs more of–as fans start to tire of the usual pixel-art game or sad games about a child and their pet, this is a great shift in priorities. It still maintains a level of creativity that’s often found in indies, while still doing something new.

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain launches on Steam and Nintendo Switch on August 21st.
