‘Blood Hunt’ Red Band Editions Get Gory Second Printings This August
by Tony Thornley
When Marvel announced Blood Hunt’s Red Band editions, it seemed like just another sales gimmick like chromium covers. But the scarier, gorier editions of the summer event were an instant hit and in August, they’re getting much anticipated second printings.

The Jed MacKay and Pepe Larraz fronted event has been a hell of a thrill ride already. We’ve seen Miles Morales, Stephen Strange and T’Challa turned into vampires. We saw the most powerful Avengers laid low by demi-god like blood suckers. And perhaps most stunning is the revelation that Blade, the king of vampires, was actually possessed by Varnae, the god of vampires.
In the red band editions, with stunning new art from Larraz and Marte Gracia, the carnage has been more brutal, with a lot more blood and graphic violence. These editions are only available in print, and they were an instant hit, even at the higher price point. On August 28th, the entire series will be available in second printings of the red band editions.
Each issue will feature a new “blood soaked” edition of the series’ main covers. These red saturated covers feature Larraz’s stunning art and redscale colors from Gracia.
“The Red Band pages are really interesting to me,” Larraz shared. “They allow me to convey the dark, violent, blood tone of this particular story and flex new muscles that I don’t usually get to use in a super hero comic. And I’m not going to lie, they’re so fun!”
Check out all five blood soaked covers, and watch for the second printings of all five issues of Blood Hunt on August 28th!
