SDCC 2024: ‘2000 AD’ Brings Legends Simon Bisley, Gail Simone And Kevin Eastman And More To The Show

It’s not at all long to SDCC 24 now and publishers are announcing schedules and events – here’s what 2000 AD are doing…
2000 AD returns to San Diego Comic Con with three VERY big names who’ll be in attendance with them – Simon Bisley, Kevin Eastman, and Gail Simone! Plus, they’ve got exclusive freebies and a show-exclusive hardcover with a brand-new cover by Francesco Francavilla.
Bisley will be there as Rebellion’s guest of honour to celebrate 35 years since the debut of his ground-breaking, industry-changing work on Celtic-lore fantasy series Sláine: The Horned God with Pat Mills. Bisley will be there along with the 35th-anniversary edition of The Horned God in both over-sized paperback and the rather special-looking three-volume slipcase editions, both with their art scanned from the original archive film and printed at a size closely matching Bisley’s original artwork. And I hope you know how special that art was?

Not only will Bisley be doing exclusive signings for 2000 AD, but he’ll also be joined by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman for an unmissable panel as they discuss the legacy of 2000 AD at ‘Heavy Metal Comics With Simon Bisley & Kevin Eastman.’
Finally for the signing events, the brilliant Gail Simone will be signing copies of the new Misty anthology that she’s spearheading with writing three of the four stories to be found inside. Simone will also be heading up a panel focusing on the twin worlds of horror and romance comics – ‘Roxy and Misty: Horror and Romance Collide!’ with a panel of creators and critics exploring the worlds of 2000 AD‘s new genre anthologies Misty and Roxy.

And finally, both Simone and Bisley will be on the official 2000 AD panel at this year’s SDCC – ‘2000 AD: The Galaxy’s Greatest Panel!’ This one will have Bisley and Simone headlining but will also have the sort of top talent you’ll regularly find in the pages of the comic, along with exclusive announcements from SDCC about future 2000 AD releases.
This year’s show-exclusive edition is the complete Rogue Trooper: Blighty Valley, by Garth Ennis and Patrick Goddard, and features a SDCC-exclusive new cover by artist Francesco Francavilla. This edition will be exclusively available at the 2000 AD booth before being available to 2000 AD subscribers to purchase direct through the 2000 AD webshop from 1 July.

The booth will have free collectible tote bags featuring the Judge Dredd art of Robin Smith, free poster tubes sporting an iconic Judge Dredd cover by Brian Bolland, and free copies of Rebellion’s huge range of comic book titles.
And if you can’t be there, the Rebellion webshop will also be celebrating San Diego Comic Con with exclusive Sláine: The Horned God T-shirts featuring Simon Bisley’s art in new designs, exclusively available online!
Rebellion/2000 AD will be at Booth #2121 in the main show hall at San Diego Comic Con from Previews Night on 24 July until close on Sunday 28 July.
