Dark Horse And Wizards Of The Coast Are Teaming Up For ‘D&D’ And ‘Magic’ Comics

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

Wow! This is amazing news! So as the majority of you know I’m a huge fan of Dark Horse Comics. B.P.R.D. got me back into comics after some time away and I devour titles like Beyond Mortal, the Usagi books, anything that has to do with Vox Machina or the Critical Role stories, Operation Sunshine, and so much more. Dark Horse has some really good books in play and a wonderful library that I read from often.

So this news has me so excited…

Dark Horse and Wizards of the Coast have teamed up for a new publishing program and it’s just in time to celebrate Dungeons & Dragons‘ 50th Anniversary! It all begins in 2025 with comics and graphic novels expanding the worlds of D&D and Magic: The Gathering. The officially licensed publishing program will feature original stories based on the lore from both the TTRPG and CCG. We are expecting to see the first of these series next summer.

If you remember, Dark Horse Comics first collaborated with Wizards of the Coast for the Magic tie-in comics in the late 1990s with Gerrard’s Quest and has more recently collaborated for Stranger Things and D&D miniseries.

“If you’d told my 12-year-old self I’d get to work with incredible writers and artists to craft comics for Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering, alongside such thoughtful and creative stewards of these licenses, I wouldn’t have believed you,” senior editor Spencer Cushing said. “The opportunity to work with Wizards of the Coast is a dream come true.”

“Having the opportunity to work with the Wizards of the Coast team on both Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering is one of the most exciting opportunities I’ve had professionally,” added editor Brett Israel. “As an avid player and fan of the various stories and planes of these two iconic games, I cannot wait to work with many highly-skilled creators on growing these universes.”

There is so much to love about this news and I for one will be bringing you more as it develops!

Until next time, just imagine the possibilities!
