New ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power’ Season 2 Trailer Glimpses The Great Tale Of The Second Age

While the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power established all the players and locations relevant to its telling of Middle-earth’s Second Age — well, nearly all, anyway — this new trailer for the program’s second season makes it clear the great tale of the age is in full swing.
As Sauron (Charlie Vickers) worms his way back into the minds of both Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), conflict and strife makes its way across the land. In Lindon, High King Gil-Galad (Benjamin Walker) and other prominent Elves debate the use of the Three Rings Celebrimbor forged last season. In Eregion, the great craftsman is confronted by a talented Elf who bares a strong resemblance to Sauron. In Khazad-Dûm, Prince Durin (Owain Arthur) and Disa (Sophia Nomvete) distrust the Ring gifted to King Durin III (Peter Mullan) while a Balrog stirs in the deepest parts of the mountain. And as becomes clear in the latter parts of the preview, all of these things benefit Sauron as he takes Galadriel prisoner and moves against Eregion. Will it be all-out war as Elf and Orc come into conflict for the first time in a century? Will an unlikely alliance between Galadriel and corrupted Elf Adar (Sam Hazeldine) stall the Dark Lord’s plans or play right into them? And will the Dwarves offer aid to their nearby Elven neighbors?
Seriously, Eregion and Khazad-Dûm are basically next door to each other.
Just with the Siege of Eregion, Rings of Power‘s second season is already jam packed, but it will also further the tale of the Stranger (Daniel Weyman) as he travels East and learns more about his purpose — is that another Istar glimpsed at 1:32 of the trailer? Is it the one who will one day be known as Saruman? Additionally, the tale of Men continues as Isildur (Maxim Baldry) gets caught up in events near Mordor and the rest of the Númenóreans face political upheaval following the death of their king.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns to Prime Video on August 29th.
