‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Celebrates 40th Anniversary With Uncut 4K Release

One, two, 4k’s coming for you…
Wes Craven‘s original horror hit, A Nightmare on Elm Street, will celebrate its 40th anniversary by making its 4K debut just in time for Halloween.
The 1984 film will be available for purchase Digitally in 4K Ultra HD on October 1st, with a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc following on October 15th, courtesy of New Line Cinema.
A Nightmare on Elm Street introduced horror icon Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), a scarred serial killer who seemingly returns from the dead to stalk his own killers’ teenage children by eliminating them in their dreams. It also stars John Saxon, Ronee Blakely, Heather Langenkamp, and a young Johnny Depp. Many sequels followed, and New Line will likely be lining them up for the 4K treatment soon.
The 4K UHD remaster includes both the 1984 theatrical version, and an uncut version that includes 8 seconds of additional unrated gore.
Previously released special features include two audio commentaries with Craven, Englund, Langenkamp, and other members of the cast and crew, alternate endings, and three featurettes that go behind-the-scenes of the film, its sequels, and its legacy.
A Nightmare on Elm Street will be available for purchase Digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Fandango at Home, and more. The 4K UHD Blu-ray disc arrives on October 15th.
