UniVersus Drops ‘Godzilla King Of Monsters’ Decks As Part Of Their Challenger Series

One thing we for sure love here in our little corner of Comicon is giant monsters. While there are some arguments on who is the king of monsters … my editor thinks it’s a big monkey … my editor is very wrong … the fact we have such lively conversations shows how much we enjoy kaiju here.
Editor’s note: See King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) Godzilla got his backside handed to him so badly, they had to add a Godzilla roar to the fade-to-black in the Japanese release so Japanese moviegoers wouldn’t riot.
My pals over at UniVersus have some really amazing offerings. Part of their TCG Challenger Series involves the King of Monsters Godzilla clashing with King Ghidorah, and these cards are phenomenal to say the very lest.
The Godzilla 60-card deck is themed after Godzilla (the King of Monsters) rising up to crush their foes. The deck also includes a Mechagodzilla, Kiryu card as a bonus character. The way it is set up it can work equally well for veteran UniVersus players and those new to the game. This reconstructed deck also comes with a booster pack that has six random alternative art or foil cards from this series. With two primary character options, this deck really does give you a wide range of ways to play. You can score your own at your Local Gaming Shop (LGS) or at this link.
The second 60-card deck in the Challenger Series showcases King Ghidorah and Rodan sewing the seeds of mayhem and destruction. This deck also includes a bonus Mechagodzilla, Bionic Menace character and a collector booster pack, featuring six random alt-art or foil-treated cards from this series release. What I always enjoy about the UniVersus cards is the quality and ease of play. Once you learn the rules, and each deck comes with a booklet, you kind of understand how all of these sets work. It makes being a fan of a certain show or franchise easier because if you like My Hero Academia, Critical Role, or Godzilla (who is clearly the King of Monsters) and I will entertain but never be swayed by arguments it’s a giant monkey, you can get into playing with your friends and family and have a good time.
It also is a heck of a callout that the art on these cards is pretty spectacular and the playmats that UniVersus has available for their themed sets are as much an item of play as they are a decorative piece.
