‘Suikoden’ I & II HD Remaster Finally Gets A Release Date

by Sage Ashford

It took some time, but Konami finally confirmed the release date for the highly-anticipated Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars. Though initially scheduled to release in 2024, the game has been pushed back to March 6th, per the announcement during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct.

Both Suikoden I and Suikoden II have received large graphical overhauls to things like lighting, clouds, and shadows, while still retaining the feel of the original game. Character portraits have also been updated, with the original designer Junko Kawano redrawing all the character portraits for the first game. They’ve also added a ton of quality of life features, including an auto-save function, a conversation log, and the ability to fast forward during battle.

This is exactly the kind of touch-up both of these games needed, and hopefully this leads to full remakes for the PS2 games down the line.

Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune & Dunan Unification Wars will release for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
