Ti West’s ‘MAXXXINE’ To Get The Spotlight On 4K, Blu-ray, And DVD In October
by David Lewis
Writer-director Ti West‘s gruesome, lurid movie trilogy exploring the pitfalls of filmmaking and fame reaches its bloody climax with MAXXXINE, making its debut on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on October 8th from Lionsgate.
The storyline that began with X in 2022, and continued in the prequel Pearl (also 2022), now finds aspiring starlet Maxine (Mia Goth) trying to break out of adult films and into more serious horror stardom in 1980s Hollywood. But with a mysterious serial killer targeting those close to her, Maxine finds herself at the center of a police investigation which threatens to expose her murderous past and put an end to her dreams of stardom. The period setting allows West to indulge in his goriest tendencies, paying tribute to slasher movies of the era, and taking direct inspiration from the ’80s films of Brian De Palma.
MAXXXINE also stars Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, and Lily Collins. Veteran actors Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon also show up in against-type roles where they both get to go gloriously over-the-top.
Special features include three behind-the-scenes featurettes, a Q&A with West, and trailers. X and Pearl are already available separately, but we’re betting a boxset will be announced eventually.
MAXXXINE will be available on 4K UHD + Blu-ray + Digital for the suggested retail price of $42.99, on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital for $39.99, and in an exclusive Blu-ray version with alternate art only at Walmart for $39.99.
