UniVersus Brings ‘Girl Power’ To Their ‘My Hero Academia’ CCG!

Welcome to the table,
When you have an ensemble show like My Hero Academia, it can be really easy for the vast cast of characters to get lost in the story. The main protagonists get the focus and the others become fuel for fanservice and less savory merchandise. So, it was refreshing to see my pals over at UniVersus making a whole line of “Girl Power” cards for their CCG.
When the box they sent over arrived, I started cracking open packs and was immediately taken with how cool the art cards were. The set builds on the previous My Hero Academia releases adding over 180 new cards to the set.
Each booster contains 11 total cards, including 1 character card, 6 commons, 3 uncommon, and one of the following: Rare, Ultra Rare, or Secret Rare. The Secret Rares are spectacular but there is also a chance to find a limited edition Chrome Rare that has a really cool foil treatment to it.
This deck feels like it plays fan service to the women of My Hero Academia but in a way that does not feel offputting or weird and for those who love these characters you will find some really epic cards to bulk out your deck and showcase everything the UniVersus CCG has to offer.

Until next time, the Toru card amused me so much. I had no idea how they were going to make the character work without showing the motion of the gloves but seeing it in this chrome variant solidified even more for me that UniVersus knows what they are doing when it comes to this IP.
