Cable & Bishop Save The Future In December’s ‘Timeslide’

by Tony Thornley

The past few years have seen the time travelers of the Marvel Universe facing timeline-ending threats. This year, it’s a little different as two X-Men team-up to stop a mysterious threat in Timeslide.

In the past three years, this year-ending special was called Timeless and it featured Kang, Power Man and others facing impossible threats to the timeline. Yet, the timeline’s two greatest protectors- Cable and Bishop- have never gotten involved. That’s going to change in Timeslide from Steve Foxe & Ivan Fiorelli.

When an X-Man arrives from the future, he delivers a grave warning. One of their adversaries has breached the timestream and is going to stop the X-Gene from ever evolving. Now Bishop and Cable- the two iconic X-Men whose post-Krakoa roles are still shrouded in mystery- must put aside their many differences to jump into the timestream after their foe and save not just mutantkind but the entire Marvel Universe!

This starring duo have a long history with each other. Bishop once lost his sanity and hunted Cable and his daughter all through the timestream. Though the two have since set aside their animosity, that’s a conflict that’s obviously going to leave scars.

These specials haven’t always been good, but they’ve always been entertaining. The teases we get have always been fun too, even if they don’t pan out. (I’m still bitter we got Chasm instead of the teased “Ben Reilly Spider-Man in Hollywood” from the first Timeless.)
