All The G.I. Joe, Transformers, Star Wars And Marvel News And Reveals From Hasbro Pulse Con 2024

Welcome to the table,

Hasbro Pulse Con 2024 has just kicked off and there are a ton of really cool things happening this year. Check out our rundown of everything announced.

G.I.Joe 

After doing a nice slice-of-life bit about the Hasbro photo team and the diorama builds, we got to see some really cool new G.I. Joe figures including Starduster complete with a crossword puzzle on the back of the box and his jetpack. It’s such a cool and obscure character but it’s really rad to see get some attention from the team. There was also a really cool Zandar figure that conjured some rad diorama ideas from the new Cobra Commander comic I have been reviewing.

There was also a little Cobra PSA for the upcoming game GI Joe: The Wrath Of Cobra and they hinted at Hunt for the M.A.S.S. Device coming up in the near future. All in all really solid showing from the Joe team and I think fans are going to be stoked to see what happens next.

Dungeons & Dragons

Next up is Dungeons & Dragons.  There was a super cute intro with a bunch of people talking about how they have been playing D&D for years and how it connects all of us and how much we love all love D&D. As a D&D person, this was really touching.

They talked a little bit about the new 2024 Players Handbook and all the cool stuff they have updated for it. I like they really nail home that it teaches new players how to play. It really does feel like there is more life and potential in the new 2024 book. As someone who has had the new PHB for over a month now, I can tell you I love this book and think it is a great move forward for our hobby.

We got some insight into the Dragon Anthology book, showcasing “Dragons in Dungeons.” The new book will be 10 short adventures featuring dragons in dungeons and that may take away some of the anxiety of players who may have never fought a dragon in D&D before.

The new start set was talked about as well, and that is going to take us back to the Keep on the Borderlands. There are going to be some play events happening with early access to the D&D releases to support the local game stores to really drive home how important it is to foster a community in a local shop.

They talked about the 12 minifigs from LEGO ( I have them all next to me right now ) and then they transitioned into a mention of working with other 3rd party creators and publishers who are making and sharing content.

The Forgotten Realms 2024 also got a call out and as a fan of “The Realms” this is such great news. We are to get two books as we return to the realms and it looks like there is so much lore and new crunch for players that are going to be in those books.

Magic the Gathering 

The Magic segment began with talk of the new set coming out Duskmourn. They then dropped into the new Secret Lair Drops, coming up we will have a Secret Lair X Ghostbusters set. They showed off some Slimer cards and those looked really fun. It really looks like all sides of this collaboration were showing the Ghostbusters love so if you are a fan you will dig these new drops as they come out on September 30th.

Star Wars

First up on the stack was a Stap and Battle Droid from Star Wars Episode I. The stand for the Stap was really dynamic and this is clearly going to be perfect for army building. They introduced a Prince Xizor (from 1990s event Star Wars: The Shadows of the Empire) figure from the Black Series and he is super unique because he really has some cool little figure details like his staff, his two ponytails, and these soft arm tassels that are really different than other figures we have seen. This is the first mainline publishing item so it has a purple color code on the box just adding to more shelf appeal.

Black Series also saw a new clone figure Commander Bacara, and a droid for army build from the Clone Wars, the Commando Droid. It’s one of the last releases we wanted to see from the Clone Wars series and because it is a new tool it has a ton of cool features and really good articulation.

From Ahsoka, we got Anakin Skywalker and the Clone Trooper Lieutenant in the 4 inch scale Vintage Collection. The Anakin Skywalker update is super solid and will be a fan favorite.

Dagan Gera, from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, was also shown with his dual red lightsaber and his PVC cape. They also showcased “Farm Boy” Luke Skywalker from the Black Series, and Leia Organa with a blaster and an updated PVC dress, and cool clip-on hood that really fits the shelf vibes.

They brought in Emily Swallow, who plays the Armorer on The Mandalorian, to showcase the reveal of The Armorer’s Helmet from the Black Series. It was so cool to see her showcasing it. The helm looks so good.

Marvel Legends Series

The Marvel team opened up with Kang The Conqueror and his chair with his hovering chair. He has face swaps and a really cool stand. They showcased Dragon Man next, with some digital renders. He has open wings, closed wings, and book accessories. The wings apparently articulate some, but they do not fully open and close.

They dropped into the VHS Spider Exclusive two pack, with Peter Parker who has multiple head sculpts, including an unmasked mask he can hold into his hands, and a Flash Thompson head that can snap onto the Spider-Man head as well. There is also the Spider-Man animated series Vulture with molded armor and his young and old heads.

After the Spider-Man set, they showed some really rad retro-carded six-inch Marvel Legends figures, inspired by the original Secret Wars toyline and comics miniseries. They showed off the Beyonder, in a very cool updated look with that fun little lenticular square shield that came with the toys when I was a kid. Villians will get the silver square shield with a wrist clip, and the heroes will have  gold round shields that will have wrist clips as well. They also had a Titania who is not the size of the recent She-Hulk figure but she is legit a big figure in the Secret Wars set.

They have been teasing this since SDCC, but now we know the Secret Wars Wolverine is coming. He has the brown costume with pinless articulation and two heads, masked and unmasked, and popped and un-popped claw hands. After Wolverine, they showcased a classic 80’s Iron Man as part of the classic series. The shield has him in that fun mustache look and he comes with clip-on rollerskates so this will be a must-have for fans of the retro Iron Man. We also got to see Cap with a broken shield from Secret Wars and the Black Suit Spider-Man.

Transformers 

Transformers started with the convention-exclusive Dio King, all the bots in dio-mode, bot modes, and then all six bots combined into Dio King mode. They then brought out Cosmos from in bot and ufo mode. The G2 Breakdown came out next, such a cool colorful bot in both modes. Lots of shelf appeal with this one.

The team brought out Origin Bumblebee next. He goes into bot mode and his ufo mode. He comes with the little jet pack and the golden rods from episode one of Transformers. Armada Wheeljack was up next. The sports car mode is so clean on this. The paint is crisp with the black gloss that looks so freaking cool. Really pumped with how good they did with these deluxes.

They jumped to the Voyager series with Ramjet. Tarn was up next, they worked with IDW to really nail the sculpt on this one. They then jumped to the Galaxy Shuttle, which does space and train mode as well as his bot form. Overcharge was up next with both tank and jet mode, it’s a very clean sculpt and the paint looked a little flat, but all in all it was a classic-looking triple-changer.

When it came back, we got to see some bots from the new Transformer One movie that is out one week from today. Those can be pre-ordered on the 17th at 1 pm EST.
