The Creator Of ‘Kite’ Is Back With A New SciFi Anime Series: ‘Virgin Punk’

Umezu Yasuomi is the creator of the infamous X-rated OVAs Kite (1998) and Mezzo Forte (2000). Both OVAs depict graphic sex and hyperviolence while also delivering compelling thrillers in a unique world. Now Yasuomi is teaming up with Studio Shaft (Magical Girl Madoka) to create an original series titled Virgin Punk. This story appears to be a spiritual successor to Kite and Mezzo Forte because it follows another familiar-looking teenage girl who works as a bounty hunter in a vibrant and deadly world.
I just hope that they don’t pull any punches and deliver the same sick thrills as the previous OVAs.
The first installment of Virgin Punk titled, “Clockwork Girl,” is scheduled to be released in early summer 2025.
