This Winter Marvel & Disney Ask ‘What If… Mickey & Friends Became The Fantastic Four?’

by Tony Thornley

Marvel and Disney has crafted some incredibly fan mash-up adventures over the past year. They continue into 2025, when, in January, Mickey and Friends embark on one of the most fantastic adventures of their long careers.

Written by Steve Behling and Riccardo Secchi with art and cover by Lorenzo Pastrovicchio, What If… Mickey & Friends Became The Fantastic Four? thrusts four of Disney’s flagship characters into a ship bound for a collision course with cosmic rays. Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy take the place of Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny and become the Fantastic Four, paying homage to the birth of the Marvel Universe.

“As a huge FF fan myself, I can tell you this issue will tickle your nostalgic funny bone, bringing the spirit of Marvel’s first family to a story I can only describe as Funtastic!” Editor Mark Paniccia shared.

Marvel and Disney’s first adventure, the multiverse spanning Uncle Scrooge & The Infinity Dime was a melding of storytelling styles, while the two Donald Duck mash-up specials both added some Marvel fun to classic Disney Duck adventures. Mickey’s adventures are equally fun but a little bit underappreciated, so it’s great to see him headline one of these specials, even with this being a bit of a team affair.
