Godzilla, Gigan, And More — Funko Pops Off Again!

In the before times (by that, I mean pre-COVID), I had an office in an office building. Most of my other coworkers had very “Live, Laugh, Love” inspired decor, while my office was decked out in Godzilla. With the backgrounds on my three large monitors, the postcard-sized movie posters, the plush Godzillas, and the small spring action Godzillas, the whole place felt like a shrine to the King of Monsters.

My favorite part of the collection though was my large Godzilla Funko Pop. Falling somewhere between the classic 1954 design and the body-morphing that happens to a character who gets turned into a Funko Pop, the King of Monsters looked adorable sitting on my desk glaring at anyone who would enter my office unannounced.

I went home one day after HR decided there should be an abundance of caution. Then, that was it. I worked from home until I left that organization and started somewhere else. A co-worker who was still working there when some people went back to the office cleaned out my office for me, but somehow parts of my collection, DVDs, Funko, and other things had gone missing in the year or so I had been working from home.

While it was a weird time, and I do really miss some of the stuff in the office, I made the right choice to go home because that office ended up coming down with illnesses constantly after my departure, and that could have been super dangerous. I do miss my Godzilla Funko Pops though, so it was cool to see that Funko has some rad offerings to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the King of Monsters.

First up is the exclusive Gigan. Gigan is an alien cyborg kaiju who showed up in 1972’s Godzilla vs Gigan. The M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens launched Gigan along with King Ghidorah to wreck house on Earth. Godzilla and his pal Anguirus sent them packing though. You can grab Gigan at this link.

Next up is the 2016 Shin Godzilla complete with weird body horror monster tail and funky cracked pain skin. Shin Godzilla is the closest any Godzilla has come to horror for me as it is truly a work of terror, but man it is cool. You can grab the Funko Pop at this link.

The Godzilla 2000 Godzilla… from 1999 (confusing I know) also has a Funko Pop. This little Titan of Terror has stylized head ridges and a fang-filled mouth. You can also catch a peek of the purple fins on the tip of his tail. You can score one of these for yourself at the link.

This version of the classic 1954 Godzilla Funko Pop comes with a little jet he has snatched out of the air. There is a metallic version of this design as well but the black and white-toned paint scheme on this feels so classic giant monster movie that it’s hard not to see it and smile. These are all priced very fairly on the Funko site and are perfect for the Godzilla fan who is looking to add a few more pieces to their King of Monsters collection.
